Silk Smitha

Vijayalakshmi (Telugu: విజయలక్ష్మి, December 2, 1960 – September 23, 1996), known popularly as Silk Smitha, was an Indian film actress who worked predominantly in the South Indian languages, and was noticed mainly for her erotic roles. Entered the film industry as an extra actress, she got noticed for her role "Silk" in the 1979 Tamil film Vandi Chakkaram. Subsequently she became the most wanted erotic actress of the 1980s. In a career spanning 17 years, she did over 450 films in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi languages. On September 23, 1996, she was found dead in her apartment in Chennai, apparently having committed suicide.

Silk Smitha the yesteryear glamour queen, who swept off the 80's and 90's with her sexy dance movements and expressions has once again created the magic in 2011 it seems.

This time it is Vidya Balan who portrayed herself as Silk Smitha in The Dirty Picture.
